Alan Holtham

After 20 years at the ‘sharp end’ of retailing, he decided to take a step back and concentrate on sharing his accumulated knowledge and experience, setting up a dedicated film studio and workshop in 2000.

Initially making instructional and promotional videos covering all aspects of woodworking machinery, the media business grew rapidly and Alan has now written hundreds of magazine articles and continues to write and present a variety of woodworking programmes on DVD.

He has appeared on many TV woodworking programmes, and regularly demonstrates tools and techniques on behalf of major machinery and tool manufacturers, as well as presenting internet footage for them.

His simple, down to earth approach fronts a personal ambition to demystify woodworking and bring it back as a mainstream interest for all, but particularly for youngsters whom he feels have been sadly neglected by an education system that places little credibility on teaching practical hand skills.
